Trying to get conceive can sometimes be a frustrating and long process. Who knew?! Luckily, there are plenty of products out there that can actually increase your chances of getting pregnant.
Some of the products will help you track your cycles and some will help give you the nutrients you need to prepare your body for pregnancy. In addition, some of the products can just help with your overall well-being, which is actually more important than you would think. Overall, these are the top 10 products out there that I think are the best on the market.
This post is all about must-have products if you’re trying to conceive.
1. An ovulation predictor kit or a fertility monitor
Seriously, if there is one product on this list that you decide to get, it should be this one. It’s at the top of my list because it’s truly the jackpot when it comes to getting pregnant.
I go into way more detail about tracking your fertile window in this post, but long story short, you have to know when you’re fertile in order to get pregnant. Using the cycle tracking apps can be helpful but they usually calculate your fertile days by assuming you have a 28 day cycle. Most women don’t.
In addition, even if you’re regular, you can ovulate on a different day every month. If you were to rely solely on the apps, you could miss your chance to get pregnant and have to wait until your next cycle to try again.
So although I highly recommend the cycle tracking apps, they’re a thousand times more useful when used in conjunction with an ovulation predictor kit or fertility monitor.
Ovulation Predictor Kits
If you want clear results, I swear by the Clearblue Advanced Ovulation Predictor Kit. In the directions, it tells you when to start testing based on your cycle length and you just test once a day until you get a peak reading.
The dipping method is the best way to take ovulation tests. I use it with these Dixie Cups! This may be gross but it’s so much easier peeing in a cup and dipping the test in. You’re less likely to get errors that way.
Another ovulation test I’ve used are the Pregmate Ovulation Test Strips. They’re great if your cycles aren’t as regular and if you want to test multiple times a day. The only downside is that you don’t get clear results because you have to compare the test line to the control line.
Fertility Monitors
Lastly, there are fertility monitors. These are better for women who aren’t sure how long their cycles are or are just looking for a more advanced product. The downside is that they’re more expensive:

2. Cycle tracking app
The second most important product you need is a cycle tracking app. I mentioned it above briefly but to increase your chances of getting pregnant, I highly recommend tracking your cycles. Cycle tracking is simpler than it sounds and you can make it as easy or as complex as you want.
At the very least, track the start and end of your period. If you want, you can add in flow details and symptoms. You can also track how you’re feeling all throughout your cycle.
There are plenty of apps out there but I use Fertility Friend. Although it’s not the most popular, I think it’s the best. Ovia is also another good one. It gives you a “fertility score” every day which tells you how fertile you are throughout your cycle. Both of these apps are incredibly accurate and worth a try!
3. Fertility friendly lubricant
Y’all, the Pre-Seed Fertility Friendly Lubricant such a must-have if you’re trying to conceive. I got pregnant the first time I used it and highly recommend it. Many lubricants inhibit sperm mobility but this one is the opposite. Its isotonic nature mimics your body’s natural fluids and actually helps sperm move more efficiently. It rates highly and can’t hurt to try.
4. Pregnancy tests
This one is a no brainer. It’s easy to go down the rabbit hole of trying to conceive products and forget the most obvious one. Pregnancy tests are a must-have because the entire point of all of this is to get pregnant. How else are you going to find out if you have a bundle of joy on the way?!
The First Response Early Response Pregnancy Tests are the ones I use and absolutely love them. The hCG (pregnancy hormone) detector is one of the most sensitive on the market, which means you can get a positive result sooner.
If you prefer tests that are just easier to read, I’ve also tried the Clearblue Digital Pregnancy Tests too and they’ve always been accurate. The hCG detector is not as sensitive as the First Response tests so I’d wait until after you’ve missed your period to use these.
5. Prenatal Vitamins
If you’re trying to conceive it would be a good idea to start taking prenatal vitamins. Why? Because when you’re growing a baby you’re going to need a good amount of essential nutrients to support its growth. The first few weeks are some of the most crucial and are when neural tube, spinal cord, and brain begin forming.
In order to help support the growth of those integral organs, you’re going to need folate or folic acid. You want to make sure that whichever vitamins you pick have at least 400mcg of folate or folic acid. Other key vitamins for pregnant women are: iron, calcium, vitamin D, B-complex, DHA, and iodine.
The vitamins I take are the Klaire Labs Prenatal & Nursing formula, recommended to me by my chiropractor. Just a heads up, one daily serving is three capsules, if you decide to try it.
The ingredients are clean, it’s well-rounded, and it has all of the key nutrients you need to support a pregnancy. It also contains folate and not folic acid, which is important to some people.
I take my DHA separately and highly recommend the Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA! My chiropractor suggested these to me and I tried them because the ingredients were so much cleaner than the ones I was originally taking. She specializes in treating pregnant women so she definitely knows what she’s talking about. These are two capsules a serving.
DHA is a type of omega-3, an oil that you find in fish. It supports brain health in babies, heart health for mom, and vision health for mom also. It’s very important.
Note: For any dietary supplement that you’re interested in trying, ask your doctor first. My recommendations work for me and may not be suitable for everyone. It’s best to research the products yourself before purchasing.
6. Basal body thermometer
If you’re interested in going the extra mile while tracking your cycles, taking your basal body temperature (BBT) is the way to do it. Your BBT is your temperature when you’re at rest. To get an accurate read, you have to do it at exactly the same time everyday, in the mornings, before you get out of bed.
It’s a great indicator if you want to know if you’ve ovulated. On the day after you ovulate, your basal body temperature should increase and stay elevated until your next period. It’s a slight increase though so be sure to record your temps to the hundredth degree. If you’re on the trying to conceive forums at all, you’ve probably seen screenshots of these BBT charts.
Here’s the thermometer I used. You can record your BBT in any app you use to track your cycles.
Charting your BBT can be a tedious process but there are products like this one that can measure it for you. The Tempdrop Fertility and Ovulation Tracker works by logging your BBT multiple times throughout the day and taking an average. It’s much more accurate than doing it yourself. The downside is that it’s pricey.
7. Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler
If you’re more of a bookworm, Taking Charge of Your Fertility is pretty much the word of truth in the Trying to Conceive community. It’s best for women who have no idea how to even begin tracking cycles, when you can get pregnant during your cycle, etc. I haven’t read it but I do know of multiple women on the forums who mention this book at the reason they got pregnant. Definitely a product to consider.
8. Fertility Tea
Next, is a fertility tea. If you’re more into herbal treatment and cleanses, you may want to consider trying a fertility tea. I included the Pink Stork Fertility Tea because it’s common on the forums and like the book above, many women contribute their pregnancies to this product.
They work by nourishing your body with natural ingredients to promote conception and support ovulation. Key ingredients of the Pink Stork Fertility Tea are peppermint, chaste tree berry, red raspberry leaf, and lady’s mantle. Some of these ingredients are also known to help regulate cycles.
9. Fertility journal
Up to 10% of couples struggle with infertility and sadly it often gets glossed over. Journaling is a great idea because it’ll give you a way to express yourself emotionally and can be therapeutic. And one day, when you have your bundle of joy in your arms you can look back on all of those hard months and remember why you went through it all.
Promptly Journals has the best infertility journal I’ve seen. They are stylish, minimalistic, and a great size so you can take it anywhere. They also have blank journals if you’re just looking for an empty space to jot things down.
10. Trying To Conceive forums
Honestly, I learned so much of what I know from Trying To Conceive forums! Having that community of women going through exactly what you’re going through was very comforting. It’s a space where you can ask even the most embarrassing of questions and no one will judge you.
It’s also nice having that support since trying to conceive isn’t always something you discuss with a lot of people. I recommend both the What To Expect community and the BabyCenter community! They also use a bunch of acronyms and lingos on the forums and I wrote this post that summarizes the most popular ones.
